Swish is how I’d describe one of the sounds of the bikes going past. This captures the sprinters, easily recognisable the Manx Man, Mark Cavendish and La Geurilla, Andrew Greipel. A great stretch on Stage 12 of the 2015 Le Tour where the yellow hoardings and crowd give an added energy to the moment frozen in time in oil.

There is very little that is silent about Tour cycling.  The spectators stand for hours chanting, singing, chatting and sometimes drumming on the advertising boards. Then the riders add to the noise with the swish of air through their spinning wheels.
