High Noon is the time of day when the riders sweat. There is no hiding from the mid-day sun. If you get tired of watching the riders, it is fascinating to watch the shadows. Short in the morning, almost disappearing when the sun is over head and long in the afternoon. Of course that also depends on the direction the peleton is heading!

The MTN-Qhubeka team 2015 campaign saw Daniel Teklehaimanot became one of the first black Africans to compete as part of the first African team in Le Tour. Teklehaimanot’s training and persistance paid off. He wore the KOM (King of the Mountain) red polka dot jersey  or maillot à pois rouges for a couple of stages.  Whilst he had the team  behind him Teklehaimanot faced the mountain alone at high noon to get those all important categorised climb points.

Oil painting 80 x 60 x 1.5 cm. High Noon’s painting continues on the canvas wrapped round the shallow stretchers.
Framed 83 x 63 x  2 cm. Professionally hand-made white-limed wood case frame. Ready to hang.
