Every run is a downhill flier. No brakes, no brakes are the cries of their family or coaches.Encouraging the riders to hurtle down the dried up ruts of the mud track worn by many tyres. Weaving through the trees so close that they scrape the bark. Then it is time to launch themselves up and off. Across the gap they balance themselves and the bike ready for a landing and immediate speed off.
In the Summer at Bucknell, Shropshire the weather was good. The injuries were few that day to riders, spectators and the media. A few dents in frames and expensive rebuilds after some crash-landings. But like a toddler, or perhaps a Teletubby, the riders going ‘again, again’.
