Distant Dreams
LandscapesDistant Dreams is a painting of the British coast at Morehoe, Devon. Memories of holidays amongst the rock pools, burying dad in the sands, and being blown along the cliffs. Acrylic on canvas 80 x 60 cm in white wood frame.£690.00
Confession is a painting that appears dark. Out of the darkness comes light. My mother was having a memory assessment. There was a moment where she confessed to something she’d never told a soul before. She had lit a cigarette. Gentle questions meant we learnt that it was in the underground sheltering from a bombing raid. We decided she was most definitely forgiven.
At the same time there was a confession played out as a police officer hid dressed as a nun in an afternoon TV serial. This was one of the programmes loved as it reminded her of her childhood and a different time. I asked her if I could create the painting and was given the green light. She thought it was a bit of fun.
